our math class!

Hooray! Thanks to some wonderful people, our class is going to be receiving a brand-new projector screen! No more glare from the white board…ahhh…yes, in case you didn't know, we don't have a projector screen in our classroom so a grant request was submitted to DonorsChoose.org, and in just a few short months, was funded. As I am always saying, "What goes around, comes around," over $480 was funded by six anonymous donors throughout the United States. We are now eagerly awaiting the screen so we can take our 'thank you' pictures.

In Room 6 we are always working to help those less fortunate than us. During November, we collected donations to help feed the homeless for Thanksgiving. Our donations to our 'Turkey Bucks' went to help the Orange County Food Bank. As part of our math lessons, we collected canned goods to help with the canned food drive and were able to donate almost two container-loads!

Then, in December, our donations went to help with the district's charity during the winter holiday season. We called it 'Reindeer Bucks.' The money went towards CENA: Caring Educators Nourishing All, where we We sent in a total of $61! Hooray! We also collected and donated children's books as well. Our efforts helped with the 2500 people who were included in the holiday effort.

Philanthropic actions go a long way…and teach so much. Every bit helps and the good that comes from it benefits not only the ones who receive but those of us who give.

This month, we're collecting monies for the Haitian Earthquake Relief Effort.

During the month of October, our students were made aware of the national October Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. In Room 6, a number of students wore pink shirts to show their support during the Lee National Denim Day. As a result, our classroom was able to send over $200 to show our support from my six math classes alone. Click List of Students Wearing Pink to see who showed their support that day by wearing pink.
